چکیده

Compressed biogas (CBG) has proven to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions compared fossil diesel, but due diverging methodologies, results of different studies lie far apart. The usage the co-produced digestate can lead high acidification and eutrophication impacts, this aspect is often not considered, neither way substitution methods for affect results. In work we address these issues performing a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) CBG production through anaerobic digestion animal manure municipal organic waste (MOW). GHG savings 93%–131% diesel benchmark in Renewable Energy Directive were found, thus complying with 60% reduction target. ammonia during application make terrestrial main environmental burdens from MOW, leading 142% 715% increase respectively, diesel. When produced avoidance storage emission 257% 700% lower impact was found. Our suggest that better manure-storage techniques are required field application, which sensitive pH nitrogen content, should be reduced. It further demonstrated including fertilizing system boundaries LCA both mineral fertilizer have great on outcome, also introduce uncertainty outcome used recommendations methodology future EU biofuel regulations.

Life Cycle Environmental Impacts of Electricity from Biogas Produced by Anaerobic Digestion

The aim of this study was to evaluate life cycle environmental impacts associated with the generation of electricity from biogas produced by the anaerobic digestion (AD) of agricultural products and waste. Five real plants in Italy were considered, using maize silage, slurry, and tomato waste as feedstocks and cogenerating electricity and heat; the latter is not utilized. The results suggest th...

Optimization of Process Parameters Affecting Biogas Production from Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste via Anaerobic Digestion

The aim of this study was to obtain the optimal conditions for biogas production from anaerobic digestion of organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) using response surface methodology (RSM). The parameters studied were initial pH, substrate concentration and total organic carbon (TOC). The experimental results showed that the linear model terms of initial pH and substrate concentratio...

Effect of Physical and Chemical Operating Parameters on Anaerobic Digestion of Manure and Biogas Production: A Review

Introduction: The need for food produced from animal husbandry has made it a growing industry which result in increment of livestock waste. On the basis of environmental and economic considerations, these materials require treatment and management. Anaerobic digestion and creation of biogas are the most effective methods of waste management. Several parameters affect the anaerobic digestion of ...

Two-Staged Wet Anaerobic Digestion of Landfill Leachate and Organic Waste: The Effect of Organic Waste Type on Biogas Production

In this study, five different experiments were conducted over a period of 170 days to produce biogas by using a variety of mixtures of organic materials and landfill leachate. The aim of this study is to develop a more robust two-stage biogas plant that can accept a wide spectrum of waste products and continue to function without any malfunction. The facility has 5m3 total digester volume, with...

Anaerobic digestion of municipal solid waste and agricultural waste and the effect of co-digestion with dairy cow manure.

Anaerobic digestion of dairy cow manure (CM), the organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW), and cotton gin waste (CGW) was investigated with a two-phase pilot-scale anaerobic digestion (AD) system. The OFMSW and CM were digested as single wastes and as combined wastes. The single waste digestion of CM resulted in 62m3 methane/ton of CM on dry weight basis. The single waste digestion of...
